The General Film and TV Series Topic

Well I noticed there were a few movie topics on here, and I wanted to discuss some other movies but they had no topics of their own. Instead of cluttering the forum I figured a general topic that covers just film in general would be fine.

What are some of your most anticipated movies coming out? Right now I\'m really interested in two movies; Juno and Southland Tales.

Juno is the story of a girl (Ellen Page) that gets pregnant and deals with the issues of a teen pregnancy and giving the baby up through adoption. It\'s getting a lot of praise, and the cast is just amazing. Michael Cera (Superbad), Jennifer Garner (Alias), Rain Wilson (Dwight from The Office. I\'m not sure how big his part is in Juno), and Jason Bateman (Arrested Development). There are others but those are who I\'m most excited for. Here is the trailer.

As for Southland Tales, it\'s basically an ensemble flick that has a bunch of stories that intertwine. Think 11:14 or Crash to understand what I meant by "stories that intertwine." The movie stars Dwayne Johnson, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Kevin Smith, Sean William Scott, Justin Timberlake, and some others. It\'s hard to describe the plot since it\'s intertwining stories, but I\'ll give the setting. Well actually Wikipedia will help me out:

El Paso and Abilene, Texas have fallen victim to twin nuclear attacks on July 4th, 2005 – a catastrophe of unimaginable proportions which sent America into war. The Patriot Act has been upgraded to a new agency known as USIdent, which keeps constant tabs on citizens – even to the extent of censoring the internet and using fingerprints in order to access computers and bank accounts. In order to be able to respond to a newfound fuel scarcity, the German company Treer designs a generator of inexhaustible energy which is propelled by ocean currents. Unbeknownst to them, the generators alter the currents and cause the Earth to to spiral out of control through space, ripping holes in the fabric of space and time.

In Los Angeles, a city on the brink of chaos, we follow the criss-crossed destinies of Boxer Santaros (Dwayne Johnson), an action film actor stricken with amnesia; Krysta Now (Sarah Michelle Gellar), ex-porn star in the midst of reconverting; and twin brothers Roland and Ronald Taverner (both played by Seann William Scott), whose destinies – on one evening – become intertwined with that of all mankind.

Anyway just talk about your favorite movies, movies that are coming out that you want to see, or whatever. It\'s a film topic, you know what to do.

Across The Universe looks really good.

I\'ve never liked that many musicals, but it looks alright. Plus it\'s The Beatles music so that\'s a reason to see it.

Yeah, thats what kind of turns me onto it. Some ***gots in the theater were heckling the preview for it when I saw transformers. I wanted to hit them over the head with something.

Whatever that Dragon movie was that probably came out 2 days ago looks fairly interesting. The plot looked strange, but the special effects and dragons looked great.

Speaking of musicials, I just remembed the satire music biopic movie that\'s coming out. It\'s called Walk Hard and looks pretty damn funny.

Eh Dragon Wars didn\'t look like anything special. The special effects aren\'t that great either.

    Dragon Wars looked like Transformers.

Except they replaced the robots with dragons.

Both seem to have uneeded humans and both seem to have action taking place in major cities for no reason. So I guess you\'re right. Robots > dragons, though.

Yea, true. I thought they looked good from the 10 second preview/commercial, but I could be wrong. Besides that, I didn\'t seem interested. Large dragons (although not as cool as transforming robots) appeal to me.

Walk Hard does look pretty great.

I\'m actually really excited for 3:10 to Yuma. A cowboy movie with Christian Bale, Russel Crowe, no gays and actualy cowboy-ness?

Also, RE: Extinction. Neither of the others were good, but both were highly entertaining. Plus this one looks especially epic.
