Over the course of the month of May we have released a steady stream of mobile games on iOS. We have compiled information about all three new games into a handy blog post for you to consume. If you haven’t played any of (or all) of these, we encourage you to check them out. We do not take responsibility for any addictions that may occur though.

Bad Dinos ($2.99)

A new kind of tower-defense game that makes the rest feel ancient! Protect the Poundrok family while rescuing its adventurous son from the clutches of a high-flying pterodactyl. Junior Poundrok yearned to fly but not like this. Now his family must pile into its rockin’ Winnecavo to retrieve him while guarding against incoming stampedes of ill-tempered dinosaurs!

Bad Dinos evolved from our games such as Spyro the Dragon, Ratchet & Clank and Sunset Overdrive. It fossilizes traditional tower-defense games by introducing a new gameplay mechanic that lets you pit your enemies against each other. Capture dinosaurs and unleash them to fight in strategic battles while you wreak havoc with upgradeable traps and turrets. Defend against the most feared dinos such as triceratops or the dreaded T-Rex as they traverse dynamically changing maps to destroy your mobile cave home. Bad Dinos also features stylized hand-drawn graphics and Jurassic snark inspired by classic cartoons. There are absolutely ZERO in-app purchases. Pay once and play.

Digit & Dash ($1.99)

Digit & Dash is the tale of a robot and alien duo separated by a mutant hot dog that splits their world apart. (Yes. A mutant hot dog.)

Control both Digit and Dash by jumping, slamming and dashing as they speed through mind-bending, dangerous levels. Use well-timed jumps and slams with Digit or Dash to propel the other higher in the air to avoid bigger obstacles. Activate switches and unlock pickups through skillful timing and fast-twitch responses. Help Digit and Dash topple the massive mutant wiener and reunite! Digit & Dash does not include any in-app purchases.

Fruit Fusion (Free)

Fruit Fusion challenges players with a unique and addictive match-three mechanic that allows you to fling fruit across a volatile reactor core. Unlock delicious upgrades by successfully matching more fruit! See how big you can grow the reactor by chaining massive juicy combos. Fruit Fusion also features a sweet art style with a custom soundtrack done by various employees of Insomniac, including Ted Price.

This game pre-dates Outernauts (our first browser/mobile game). It was always a studio favorite internally, but wasn’t quite right for Facebook at the time. Since releasing Outernauts on iOS and Android, we decided it was time to share our little obsession with the world. Grab it today for FREE!

So there you have it. Check out the newest members of the Insomniac family. Stay tuned on Twitter or Facebook for updates on when some of these might be coming to Android as well. If you haven’t already, check out our first mobile game, Outernauts, on iOS and Android for FREE.

We’ve seen a few reports from some of you who happened to catch a very special episode of Sunset TV that is currently playing in theatres across the United States. That’s right, Sunset TV has gone to the silver screen.

For the next few weeks at theatres in the United States in front of PG-13 and R-rated films, those of you heading to the cineplex may get to see a special episode of Sunset TV featuring host Brandon Winfrey, with special guest appearances from Creative Director Marcus Smith and Game Director Drew Murray.

The video rotates between theatres in the next couple weeks, so if it’s not in your theatre this week, it may be in a week or two. The episode plays in the very last section of pre-movie behind-the-scenes videos that play before the previews begin, so make sure to show up a little bit early with your popcorn (and Buncha Crunch, because Buncha Crunch and popcorn were made for each other).

If you caught it, let us know where and what you thought of the special episode! We’ll get to post it online for you all to view after its finished its run in theatres!

We’re bringing Sunset Overdrive to International Comic-Con in San Diego with Xbox this week. We’re really excited to see those of you there, and give you one of the first-ever public opportunities to play Sunset Overdrive! We also have a panel, autograph signings, giveaways and much much more.

And for all the details on the Xbox Presence at Comic-Con, check out their event site here.

Play the Game
Sunset Overdrive is PLAYABLE on the showfloor in the Xbox booth (booth #100). Swing by while you’re on the floor to check out the game. Or if you want to see and play Sunset Overdrive as well as all of the great games coming to Xbox One, head over with your SDCC badge to the Xbox Lounge at the Manchester Grand Hyatt (1 Market Place, Seasport Ballroom, 2nd Floor) where over two dozen games will be there to check out!

We’re throwing a panel at Comic-Con on Thursday evening. Swing by to hear directly from members of the team about the game all about player customization. We’re going to show brand new footage and customizations here, as well as never-before-seen concept art. The official description is below, but you won’t want to miss it.

The Fusion of Art and Style in Sunset Overdrive
Thursday, July 24, 5:00PM – 6:00PM, Room 5AB

Join Xbox Live’s Major Nelson to get an inside look into the inspiration behind the vibrant and off-the-wall style of Sunset Overdrive, a new open-world action game coming exclusively to the Xbox One this fall. Audience members will be the first to see new Sunset Overdrive content illustrating the creative freedom the game offers players. Hear directly from Insomniac Games’s Drew Murray and Marcus Smith (Game and Creative Director, respectively) along with art directorJacinda Chew and lead character artist Gavin Goulden.

Mondo x Sunset Overdrive
Last week, we announced our collaboration with Mondo, the Austin-based gallery and art collective, to create their first-ever poster for a video game.  The screen-printed poster was created by UK-based artist Matt Taylor, and is a limited edition run being sold exclusively at SDCC. Mondo will be putting the poster on sale at some point during the convention (Booth #835). To find out when it goes on sale, follow them on Twitter at @Mondonews (helpful hint, turn on mobile notifications for Mondo during SDCC so you get texts when they tweet about something being on sale!).

We also have some copies of the print to give away as well!  If you think you’re good at Sunset Overdrive, you should be the first to play Chaos Squad in the Xbox Lounge every morning when it opens. The top scorer in each of the first few games of each day will be rewarded with a beautiful copy of the poster (but you can only win once!). Also follow @SunsetOverdrive on twitter, as well for more details on giveaways and maybe even a chance to win from home!

Autograph Signing – Friday July 25th, 1pm-2pm, Xbox Lounge Main Stage
On Friday, we’ll also be having an autograph signing in the Xbox Lounge with Creative Director Marcus Smith, Community Lead James Stevenson, and Sunset TV Host and Community Manager Brandon Winfrey (among other Insomniacs!). Bring your Insomniac swag to get signed. We may even have some swag for folks in line to get signed if you didn’t have any! So be sure to come by the Xbox Lounge in the Manchester Grand Hyatt (1 Market Place, Seasport Ballroom, 2nd Floor).

We have new Sunset Overdrive t-shirts, some lithograph posters of the box art and some other goodies to give away as well. Generally speaking we’ll give those away at the Xbox Lounge (Manchester Grand Hyatt) at random times throughout the event to people who play the game. Want to know when? Stay tuned to @SunsetOverdrive‘s twitter for announcements about t-shirts being available at the lounge.

Oh yeah, Xbox has an awesome custom Sunset Overdrive Xbox One that will be given away as well. For details on how to play, check out the Xbox Comic Con page.

Hey everyone,

This past weekend we were in Austin, Texas showing off some of Sunset Overdrive to all of the amazing Rooster Teeth fans at the Rooster Teeth Expo (RTX).

Some of you may have caught presentations from our own Community Lead James Stevenson and Sunset TV host and Community Manager Brandon Winfrey from the RTX Center Stage live on Twitch.

While on stage we presented some of our inspiration for the game, and set up the story while showing some work-in-progress versions of some of the opening story cinematics from the game. As always, the character you see in these will be YOUR character!

Buckle up! Chaos is coming!

Hey everyone! I am Stephanie, the Senior Community Manager here at Insomniac. (I am still sorta new here at the studio and this is my first post! No pressure!)

The studio is currently buzzing with activity, and it’s not just because E3 is right around the corner. We’re proud to announce that the very first Insomniac Games mobile title, Outernauts, has arrived in the App Store! Download the game in the App Store here.

As part of the launch of the game, we had Project Manager Ed whip up a blog post about bringing Outernauts to mobile devices.

Take it away, Ed!

Toward the middle of 2012 we decided to develop a mobile game, something we had no experience with.  This was a very exciting and daunting task because the mobile market is extremely different than the console market we are so familiar with.  However, the team was very excited to bring the characters and humor we love so much from the browser version of Outernauts to the mobile platform. We also looked forward to refining the gameplay to compliment the touch input on mobile devices and shorter play sessions common for mobile games.

Before we started on development, the team got together and discussed what we felt were the most fun elements of the browser game.  After much contemplation, many stare contests, and some heated breakdancing battles we decided to focus on breeding and battling. Building a customizable beast army to battle with is what we enjoyed most and what we felt our fans would want showcased in the mobile version.

We believe that the changes we made to battle not only allowed for quicker, more action-packed battles, but also has the potential for deep strategy.  For example, each beast has different skills that can be selected during evolution.  Depending on the skill selected it can be paired with other beast’s skills on your team to create effective combinations.  The placement of a beast in your team formation can also impact the effectiveness of your strategy.  Our mantra became “easy to pick up but difficult to master” and we are very excited to see what kind of strategies you, our fans, devise.  Our hope is to build a community of players that love the game as much as we do and feel like part of our team – sharing their stories, providing feedback, and making the game better and better.

We hope to see you form or join an alliance for some heated PVP rivalries, and maybe even show off your favorite beast in our forums. If you have any feedback on the game, please let us know too. We’re listening eagerly, including our new community leader, Stephanie.  Let’s get to it and tame the galaxy together!

Every year the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS) and the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) honor video game artists by selecting concept art pieces for their Into the Pixel Collection. These pieces then form a gallery that travels throughout the year, with the first stop being E3 2014 in Los Angeles.

This year, 19 pieces were selected by the jury and three of them are from Insomniac artists! Two of the selections come from Sunset Overdrive: Souvenir Shop by Vasili Zorin and Character Grouping by Julien Renoult. Sunset Overdrive holds the distinction as the only game to place two pieces of art into this year’s collection.

Ratchet & Clank was also honored, marking the third time Insomniac Games Principal Artist Dave Guertin has had a piece selected by Into the Pixel. This year’s selection was Dave’s Planet Yerek Color Script from Ratchet & Clank: Into the Nexus.

Our winners are below. But you should check out the Into the Pixel website to see all of the winners from 2014.
