We are looking for an animator who can:
• Animate characters, weapons, vehicles and everything else that moves.
• Create sophisticated character performances for in-game and cinematic sequences.
• Collaborate with other animators and programmers to make movie quality in-game animation.
 
Tools and tricks that you bring with you are:
• Advanced and demonstrated understanding of creating personality with basic animation principles, including squash and stretch, timing and motion, anticipation, staging, follow through, pose to pose, slow in and out, arcs, exaggeration, secondary action, and appeal.
• Advanced Maya use
• Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

CINEMATIC AUDIO SPECIALIST

You know in old foreign films when the dialogue just does not match with the actor’s expressions or what shape their mouth is making? It’s funny to some extent, but then it just gets old, and then you just have to wonder if anyone cared enough to take the time and make it right. Well… here is your chance to care! Insomniac Games is looking for a Cinematic Audio Specialist, to be the contact for all cinematic audio requests and meetings during all phases of development and to manage and oversee all aspects of the cinematic audio creation and scheduling for all studio projects.
 
 
What this position will be doing:
• Creates audio mixes and implements cinematic audio into the project build pipeline.
• Requests bids and makes recommendations to Audio Director on hiring of external cinematic audio services. Coordinates deliverables and manages quality and accuracy of external services which may include original cinematic audio design, localized foreign language cinematic mixes, cinematic foley sound design and cinematic audio mixing.
• Coordinates internal and external cinematic schedules. Maintains and facilitates cinematic audio deliverables for all milestones.
• Responsible for audio requests for marketing videos and be in attendance during mix sessions with external studios used by various ad agencies.
• Oversight of cinematic audio quality and consistency with game audio sounds and gain settings.
• Works with our creative and animation teams on the pacing and timing of dialogue for cinematic scenes.
• Provides scratch tracks and mixes for pre-production playblasts and storyboard cinematics.
• Attends offsite shoots and sessions, to oversee audio requirements as needed (reliable transportation is needed.)
• This position has no direct supervisory duties internally, however this position helps supervise and manage external cinematic audio contractors.
 
Qualifications Education and/or Experience:
• Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and five years or greater video game development experience in original sound effect design, creation, mixing and processing with emphasis on cinematic audio or equivalent combination of education and experience. Film audio production/post-production experience a plus.
• Certification as Pro Tools Operator or Pro Tools Expert with specialization in post-production curriculum.
• Three years or greater surround and stereo mixing experience using professional quality console(s). (Digidesign Control-24 mixing console experience preferred.)
• Thorough understanding of audio compression technologies, effect plug-ins, outboard gear, mixer routing configurations and surround sound formats.
• Must be skilled in managing individuals or a small team and negotiating contracts and budgets with vendors, in conjunction with the Audio Director.
 
Computer Skills
• Proficient with Digidesign Pro Tools mixing software/hardware and session set-up.
• Proficient with PC-based sample editors (Sound Forge) and DirectX/outboard effects processors.
• Experience with LUA and other text-based scripting languages.
• Knowledgeable with both PC and Mac-based operating systems.
• Experience with Microsoft Project or other schedule creation software.

SENIOR GAMEPLAY PROGRAMMER- NETWORKING

Insomniac Games is looking for a Senior Gameplay Programmer who can join our battle against lag, dropped packets, flakey routers (those are the worst!), and other vile evils of the Internet as we continue to shatter conventional (and maybe unconventional) wisdom about the limitations of online gameplay.
 
 
Major Duties of this position:
• Implement network-synchronized game code including enemy behaviors, player interaction, vehicles, etc.
• Maintain and extend the development of our current game networking systems.
• Design and Implement networking architectures for future generation technologies.
• Work with other programmers to interface with all project subsystems, including character control, AI, and physics.
• Work with external vendors to develop solutions using and/or extending their online service SDKs.
 
What you bring to the table:
• Master's degree (M.A.) or equivalent; or five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have shipped three titles.
• Experience programming network games.
• Understanding of dead reckoning, latency, object synchronization, bandwidth and the effects on the gameplay experience.
• Extensive knowledge of C and C++.
• Strong 3D math skills
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Visual Studio experience, LUA, XML, and Maya experience a plus
• Familiarity in assembly level programming a plus.
 
Over the Top Skills:
* An avid gamer with a passion for creating top-quality games.
* Broad understanding of computer and game networking systems, including DNS, NAT, firewall, security methods, peer-to-peer and client server models.

Duties for the Gameplay Internship positions include working on breakable/interactive objects, stats tracking, data pipeline and interface, working in cheats, skill points, code reviews, and of course the ever popular bug tracing and fixing… You could also be improving visual effects including explosions, weapon effects, fire, smoke, and weather. The interns will have the opportunity to be mentored by senior members of the Programming team.

We are looking for a design intern who understands the fundamentals of what makes a game good or even better- great. The ideal candidate should have an eye for detail and a flair for the unexpected. A successful candidate should be familiar with 3D packages such as Maya, and have strong game scripting skill or programming experience. The intern’s primary responsibility will involve implementation of setups, “atmosphere”, and tweaking and tuning game mechanics. Passion and knowledge of the industry is much appreciated. The intern will have the opportunity to be mentored by senior members of the Design team.

AUDIO INTERN

Insomniac Games is looking for an audio intern who is passionate about producing audio for games. We are looking for someone who is interested in pursuing a career in game audio and who wants to learn all aspects of what it takes to create, edit, implement and fine tune audio during the development process. Some of the intern’s responsibilities will include sound effect design and creation, assistance with dialogue editing and processing, stub dialogue recording and preparation, sound effect material mapping, reverb volume placement in the game world using 3D tools, attachment of sound effects to animation sequences, capturing video footage from our game engine to be used for reference for audio creation, and lua music and sound effect scripting.
 
 
Internship Qualifications
Candidates must be enrolled at a college or university and working toward a degree with emphasis on audio production, recording or engineering, preferably within game development field. Candidates should be energetic, self-motivated, creative, responsible, have a passion for next gen video games, and an understanding of what makes them fun (or not), and be willing to work hard. Basic familiarity with audio production and editing software such as Pro Tools or Sound Forge is required. Additional experience with field recording and microphone setups, dialogue editing, sound effect creation and editing and post-processing preferred. Lua scripting or familiarity with a similar scripting language is a plus but not required. Previous experience with audio implementation using mod level editors such as Unreal is also a plus.

Candidates must be enrolled at a college or university and working toward a degree in CG Modeling, Illustration, Graphic Design, Product Design, or Fine Art. Candidates should demonstrate critical thinking skills, an eye for detail, the ability to work with a team, and a consuming desire to master their craft by learning from experienced developers.
 
Proficiency with modeling software (Maya, Max or the equivalent), sculpting software (Z-brush or Mudbox), and image editing software (photoshop) is required. Additional experience with shader creation tools or writing Cg shaders is a plus.

INTERFACE DESIGN INTERN

We are looking for a talented intern to help us with our User Interface! In this internship you would be helping in the design and implementation of all our User Interface elements. Some of the detailed things that you would be to working closely on with our seasoned UI designer would be to design and implement HUD, menus, and lobby.
