    Scripter

A luau is a Hawaiian feast. It may feature food, such as poi, kalua pig, poke, lomi salmon, opihi, and haupia; and entertainment, such as Hawaiian music and hula. At a Luau there are usually friends and family. So what does this have to do with Insomniac Games and a contract position? Well really nothing except it was the initial entry that pulled up when I typed in LUA… and it just sounds so nice! So if your mind is on tropical locals or exciting scripting - then this is the spot for you!
So what we are looking for is a scripter who will be the implementer of the design in our game. The scripter is responsible for converting the level design concepts into exciting and challenging playable levels.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Take design maps and documents, interpret the concepts and script into fully working designs.
  • Work closely with the designers and gameplay programmers to work out the details of implementing the gameplay.
  • Iterate and evolve the design based upon feedback and direction from the designers.
  • Script gameplay structural components such as save/load game world status and checkpoints.

    Must have Skills:
  • Previous experience with scripting LUA (this is a deal breaker folks!)
  • Experience in using 3D graphics packages or level building tools.
  • Competence with Microsoft Office tools - Word, Excel, etc.

Skills that are gold star indicators:
  • Good communicator
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Appreciation of game design fundamentals.
  • Previous game development experience.
  • Bachelors Degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

We also ask that you send us an example of your work (in-game not in code) in a major engine (HL2,Unreal,quake, etc). This should be included as a link in your application. If this sounds like an exciting opportunity - we look forward to hearing from you. Please use the link below to apply on-line. Thanks!
