Show of hands – how many of you have seen Cool Hand Luke? Wow, okay – two of you? Come on, people! It’s a classic! The reason I ask is because at a critical point in the film, Luke (played by the immaculate Paul Newman) asserts that he can eat fifty eggs. That seems pretty impossible. Fifty eggs, Luke? That’d be death by protein. But, hold the phone (the iPhone specifically), he did eggxactly what he said he would do – fifty eggs eaten. Not so impossible, apparently.
Enter Chris Langer (also known as RatchetH22), who claimed he could beat Resistance 2 fifty times. Much like Luke’s acquaintances, I was skeptical of this claim. While R2 is great game, I can’t imagine anyone beating any game fifty times. That would take a level of dedication I don’t think is possible for humans. Dogs –maybe- but they lack thumbs and are therefore disqualified from consideration. However, I was wrong. Recently, Chris sent this picture my way:

See that? That’s the number “50” by the words “Number of Completes.” That means he managed to take down Daedalus – fifty times. Listened to the haunting tale of Henry Stillman – fifty times. Got shot in the head after being possessed – fifty times. Woah. That’s some hardcore dedication.
The first question that entered my mind when I heard about Chris’ incredible feat was “Why?” “For both Fall of Man and Resistance 2, I’ve always had a 25 complete starting goal,” he replied, “Once I hit the 25 mark, I quickly realized that I still had lot of interest in just playing, so I then set it to 40, then finally 50.” Nice, I like the ambition! But wouldn’t the experience get a tad stale after a while? Not to Chris! He kept the game fresh by creatively self-imposing various challenge play-thoughs such as No Chimeran Weaponry, no Bullseye/Superhuman, or no Secondary Fire. That gave the game an extra layer of spice so he could reach his goal.
And reach his goal he did! For that, we at Insomniac Games salute you, Chris Langer! For your accomplishment you have earned the “Insomniac Games Muffin of Muffintastic Dedication.” Consider it a great (and tasty!) honor.

The Official Insomniac Games Muffin of Muffintastic Dedication
When I asked Chris if he was going to beat Resistance 3 fifty times he said he would definitely complete his goal of twenty-five, but with college starting up soon he might not be able to make it to fifty. That’s okay – we understand. Plus, you’ve already earned a degree in Specialty Chimeran Extermination ten times over. I guess a degree in Biology or English couldn’t hurt to mix things up. Just be sure to watch Cool Hand Luke – or you’ll never get an “I Watch Classic Modernist Cinema and Can Pretentiously Talk About it” degree (which, let’s be honest here, is basically what I’m getting).
